PhotoVoid is built to reveal as little about you as possible. This page describes as precisely as possible what data is created when you use the app and this website, and what happens to it.

1. Data Controller

2. Principle of Local Processing

PhotoVoid is built so that the processing of your photos takes place exclusively on your iPhone. There are no PhotoVoid-owned servers that your photo library, thumbnails, or data derived from them are transmitted to — neither for analysis nor for any other purpose.

3. Access to the Apple Photos Library

PhotoVoid accesses your photo library via Apple's Photos framework (PhotoKit), after you've granted access in iOS's permission settings. You decide in iOS itself whether PhotoVoid may access your entire library or only individual photos you select (“Limited Access”), and you can change this selection at any time in iOS Settings or revoke access entirely.

4. PhotoKit Permissions

PhotoVoid requests read and write access to your photo library. Read access is needed to display your photos and to locally detect duplicates and similar photos; write access is needed to delete photos you select and to create converted Live Photo stills. If you deny or restrict this permission, the affected features work in a correspondingly limited way or not at all — the app doesn't crash as a result and makes no further access attempts without permission.

5. Locally Stored Analysis and App Data

So PhotoVoid doesn't have to fully re-analyze your library on every launch, the app stores technical analysis results locally on your device: perceptual hashes (mathematical short values for image recognition, not the images themselves), scan results, your progress and decisions in Swipe Mode, and app settings (e.g. sort order), kept in the app's own storage area sandboxed by iOS (the filesystem sandbox and/or UserDefaults). Also stored locally, for example, is the start date of your trial period. This data isn't personal data in the sense of identifying you to us, never leaves your device, and is never synced with us.

6. Deleting Photos

When you delete a photo in PhotoVoid, iOS first moves it to the system's “Recently Deleted” album. From there you can restore it within 30 days before it's permanently removed. Every deletion requires your explicit selection in the app and the standard iOS system confirmation; PhotoVoid never deletes anything automatically or without that confirmation. Photos Apple has marked as a favorite aren't automatically included when selecting multiple photos. PhotoVoid itself has no further influence over the deletion process beyond that.

7. Live Photos

You can play Live Photos in PhotoVoid by press-and-hold, and convert them into a regular still photo if you want, to save storage space. During a conversion, the new still photo is created and verified first; only afterwards — and only after your explicit confirmation via the standard system prompt — is the original Live Photo deleted. Nothing is deleted without successful creation and confirmation.

8. iCloud Photo Library

If you use iCloud Photo Library and a photo isn't stored locally on your iPhone in full resolution, Apple's PhotoKit can automatically fetch the needed image data on demand via Apple's own iCloud services, in order to display or process it in PhotoVoid. This loading process runs entirely within Apple's infrastructure under Apple's own privacy terms; PhotoVoid itself has neither influence nor insight into it and operates no media server of its own for this purpose.

9. StoreKit & Purchases

Swipe Mode in PhotoVoid can be used free forever. In addition, PhotoVoid Full — with Similar Photos, Live Photos, and Screenshots — can be tried free for 3 days. The subsequent one-time purchase to permanently unlock PhotoVoid Full (no subscription) is handled entirely via Apple's StoreKit and your Apple ID. We never see payment information (e.g. card details) at any point — it's processed exclusively by Apple. For more information, see Apple's Privacy Policy.

10. No Tracking, No Advertising, No Analytics

PhotoVoid contains no advertising, no ad tracking, and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. There is no evaluation of your usage behavior and no sharing of data for advertising or analytics purposes.

11. No User Accounts

Using PhotoVoid requires no account of our own and no login. PhotoVoid creates no user profiles and stores no account-related data beyond your purchase status linked to your Apple ID (managed by Apple via StoreKit, see Section 9).

12. Network Communication

PhotoVoid maintains no server infrastructure of its own and sends your photos or app data to no servers, ours or third-party. Network connections occur exclusively within Apple's own services — for example when fetching iCloud photos (Section 8) or during purchases via StoreKit (Section 9).

13. Retention and Deletion of Local Data

The local app data described in Section 5 remains stored on your device for as long as you have PhotoVoid installed. If you delete the app, iOS automatically removes all app-owned local data, including this analysis information. No separate deletion of individual entries within the app is required, since this data is neither transmitted to nor stored by us.

14. Legal Basis

To the extent that we process any personal data at all in connection with this website and the app (see in particular Section 18 on server log data, and requests to support@photovoid.app), this processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (fulfilling a request, or the initiation/performance of a contractual relationship, e.g. for support requests) and on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure, reliable operation of the website).

15. Your Rights Under the GDPR

Under the GDPR, subject to the statutory requirements, you have the following rights: access to the data stored about you (Art. 15), rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection to processing (Art. 21). Since PhotoVoid doesn't process personal data via any servers of its own, in practice these rights concern you mainly in relation to Apple (for purchase and account data, see Section 9) and to us for data arising from a support request (Section 17).

16. Right to Lodge a Complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The competent authority is the Austrian data protection authority:

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide us with (e.g. your email address and the content of your message) solely to handle your request. You can reach us at support@photovoid.app. This mailbox is operated by World4You Internet Services GmbH.

18. Website / Hosting Privacy

This website sets no cookies and integrates no analytics services. It is hosted by World4You Internet Services GmbH. When you visit, World4You, as hosting provider, technically processes server log data (e.g. IP address, time of access) as necessary to deliver the page and protect against misuse.

19. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy if PhotoVoid, this website, or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this address; the date of the last change is shown at the top of this page.
